By the time we celebrate over 30^th Birthdays You will agree with me that in essence you would have already lived up about 50% of your active life (By the time you are 60, you better have achieved whatever it is you had wanted to achieve in life).

If we sit down and seriously think about this in our places of deep contemplation, we will have to ask ourselves the following questions:

1) Do I know my true/divine purpose in life?

2) Am I interested in knowing (if I don’t know?).

3) What do I define a fulfilled in life?

In thinking this question through, have it in mind that all our goals in life are geared towards achieving fulfillment.

Our divine purpose, being God’s workmanship created in Christ for good works, which God prepared before hand that we should walk in Him.

Until we begin to walk in His divine purpose for us, we cannot be truly fulfilled, the goals we set for ourselves all point to the fact that we honestly think that in achieving these goals, we will somehow find fulfillment and finally know the joy that comes with fulfillment.

John Maxwell in his book “Your Roadmap for success” identified these goals that we seek as

1) Wealth

2) A specific feeling (trying to feel happy) making happiness our goal

3) Specific & worthwhile possessions

4) Power

5) Achievement (successfully getting to a planned destination)

All these 5 goals represent what we see as success, in life, we have been conditioned to pursue these things as if they are the ends in themselves will not give us the fulfillment we seek, neither will pursuing these goals mark/stand us out as Christians for the rest of the would also seek this and in most cases to do a better job of achieving these goals then we do.

Christ did not come down to earth to suffer crucifixion and death for the purpose of helping you achieve the above goals; Christ did not die so that you can be wealthy, feel good, have possessions, power or achievements. He came to die in order to reconcile your soul to God so that in this/by this sacrifice you would have access to heaven and an everlasting inheritance.

So what them should we seek, if these are not our goals, how do we become successful in life, stand out from the madding crowd, the rate race, this sad world without salt or light?

John Maxwell captures the answer to this question by defining true success as:

1) Knowing your purpose in life

2) Growing to reach your maximum potential

3) Sowing seeds that benefit others.

That’s it! In Christ these 3 goals are exemplified; in essence your status as a Christian is to do just that:

1) Know your divine purpose

2) Grow in your walk wit Him?

3) Manifest your gifts & faith to the world

Brethren, we have 50% of our lives left to live, can we say in all honestly that we have started pursuing the above, can we admit that for the 1^st 50% of our mortal lives, we have been preparing ourselves to achieve the 5 earthly goals.

Be informed here and now; fulfillment and happiness reside in seeking the former goals: Purpose, potential and impact.

A true Christian seeks this above all else and takes every day as a new opportunity to seek find and walk in the 3 great goals; Purpose, potential an impact. Nigeria has one of the largest Christian populations in the world, but if we don’t realize the above, this great number will diminish like it has in other countries as very soon people will begin to discover that creating wealth, achieving be sought and claimed by following the ways of this world and not Christ like they have its discovered in the developing world.

How can you turn your focus into achieving the 3 true goals?

Seek daily to walk with God and fulfill the 3 goals and soon, it will become a habit, a success habit; it will involve many sacrifices and you will fight many battles, but after a shout time, you will see the fruits of your walk.

Remember what Jesus our Lord said “seek first the kingdom of God and all other things will follow blessings and insight he needs to fulfill his divine purpose, move importantly, he will fin fulfillment in the work of his hands and happiness today, not as far off goal, but a daily helping, an outcome of spending the day fulfilling purpose.

We have 50% of our lives to go, what do you want to do with it? Make up your minds and hearts today and let this journey be worthwhile!

SUNSETS

Departing, reducing in intensity

Man stands alone and afraid

His life is out a breath

 

In the morning the awakes to life

In the afternoon, he strives with energy

In the evening has strength fails him

When the sunsets, his life flashes before

Him finally, and night comes to claim

Him into the bosom of eternal repose

 

The sun will set upon us all

Let your afternoon be fall of life

And love and fulfillment

 

So that when the sun sets on you

You will welcome the night with open

Arms, like a lover returned

A MILLION SUNSETS

I am grateful, for my life

I have lived it well,

I count it as a privilege to be able

To watch the sun set at the end of the day

I have journeyed thus far alone groping

In the dark, trying to feel my way back now;

When I lay me down exhausted at the

End of the day, I thank God for making

Me watch another sunset.

 

My days are numbered according to the

Order of my life and I have taken account

I haven’t achieved much it seems, I pray

that God gives me many more sunsets

So that my Dreams can be made real.

 

But all of this paces into insignificant if

I have to watch the sun set alone;

If God in His mercy grants me even

A million sunsets, I want to spend
